Refusal To Quit
This message continues our series Contend with a focus on one powerful mindset: a refusal to quit.
In Genesis 32:22–30, Jacob wrestles through the night with God and refuses to let go until he receives a blessing. After a lifetime of manipulation, running, and self-reliance, Jacob finally reaches the end of himself. In that moment of desperation, everything changes. What began as a struggle becomes a turning point where God transforms Jacob and gives him a new identity.
Refusal To Quit- CONTEND PT 2
This sermon explores what it means for believers today to contend for the faith with the same persistence Jacob showed. Contending is not about comfort. It is about perseverance. It is choosing to stand on the promises of God even when circumstances look impossible.
We look at:
• Why mindset matters in the life of faith
• How desperation often drives us toward dependence on God
• The promises believers can hold onto in difficult seasons
• Why contending means refusing to let go of truth when pressure comes
• How God often works through weakness rather than strength
Jacob walked away from that night with a limp, but he also walked away blessed. The same God who met Jacob in the dark still meets His people today when they refuse to quit and hold onto Him.
If you are in a season where things feel heavy, uncertain, or overwhelming, this message is a reminder to keep contending. Hold onto the promises of God. Do not quit. God is still working.
